About Loabi Boutique

Some of you may be wondering what is Loabi? What does it mean? I would like to share with you the meaning and why the store was named Loabi. In the Summer of 2008, I was fortunate enough to take a trip to the Maldives for 30 days. It was there, the Lord began a new work in me. Having never left the comfort of the United States I was unaware of what I would experience. Upon arriving, I was amazed to see the beauty of the Lord all around me. It was everywhere. Being in a place where they do not acknowledge the one true God, it was difficult to see His glory all around and know that these people were missing it entirely. We began building relationships with many Maldivians that the Lord had placed in our paths. They are very kind people who would give you anything you ask of but at the same time there seems to be a lack of understanding of what love truly is. But then again we know love because He first loved us (1 John 4:19). So how could they understand? A week or so into my trip, I met a young Maldivian girl and we became friends almost instantly. This is rare not only for many of us but especially over there. I spent the next couple of weeks really getting to know her. She lovingly calls me Loabi, which means love in dhivehi, their native language. She is a very special young lady who the Lord is working on even now. I pray that she will be able to understand the Father's love her and the saving power of Jesus Christ. She is very dear to me and I miss her like crazy. The Lord has given me a love for her and her people that only he can give. I write all this to tell you to please be in prayer for the Maldives. We serve a Mighty God who is at work in the hearts of these people. Pray for obedience of those called to go and serve. Know that Loabi Boutique is far more than a little store in downtown Yukon. It is a reminder of what God has done and what He is going to do. It is about something bigger than each one of us. "Yes, LORD, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts" (Isaiah 26:8).
