Ford Center is the premiere destination for the best sports and entertainment in Oklahoma.
Home to the Oklahoma City Thunder (NBA), Ford Center also plays host to major concerts, family shows, sporting events and the latest in world-class entertainment. While it is managed by SMG, Ford Center is owned by the City of Oklahoma City and was the premier project of its visionary capital improvement program (MAPS) to finance new and upgraded sports, entertainment, cultural and convention facilities with a one-cent sales tax. On March 4, 2008, Oklahoma City voters once again overwhelmingly approved a temporary one-cent sales tax, to fund several major upgrades to Ford Center. The 15-month tax took effect on January 1, 2009 and will expire March 31, 2010. Plans include a new grand entrance, multistory atrium, restaurants, clubs, concession areas, bunker suites, terrace suites, roof top gardens, locker rooms, a warm-up basketball court, team offices and a family fun zone. Ford Center will once again close temporarily following the 2009-2010 NBA season to complete the final phase of improvements.
